Spelling Homework: The Template for the 4th Grade Pattern Spelling Assignment

Howdy TBSH friends!  Am I obsessed with homework?  Perhaps … okay, full confession here –  I LOVE it!  No, seriously, you can ask my kids.  The very first thing I ask when they get home AFTER asking how their day was, is: What do you have for homework?  I get giddy for homework – don’t judge me 🙂 So, a few weeks ago I posted my first blog post on a reading homework template I created for Amelie to help her structure her reading homework in a more meaningful way.  Well, I’m at it again with spelling homework now because this girl can make a muck out of a simple spelling assignment! If you’ve noticed, 4th grade spelling homework lately has been asking for the kiddos to write down their spelling words based on their pattern.  I went back to the organized junky I am and created another template for Amelie … and for your kiddos, too 🙂 So, here you – I hope you enjoy and please pass it around!!!  — As always, send loads …

Kate Pernoud of Maison Pernoud: Finding Simple Happiness in Antiques, Travel, and Meeting New People

Hi there TBSH friends! Angela here. I am so happy to bring to you today our 2nd post in a series called “Local Highlights”. “Local Highlights” are about some of the amazing women that live right here in our own community. And, as Bridgette stated in her post earlier this month titled, “Angie Dornier Photography: An Inspiration of a Passion Turned Profession” , we feel that there are many women right here in our own community that inspire! They are our friends, neighbors, and often cheer buddies at our kid’s sports events. They are just like us, doing their best to live a “simply happy” life! Even if you don’t live here in Houston, more specifically the Spring Branch/Memorial area of Houston, you are sure to find inspiration and enjoy reading about these women. Today I’d like to introduce you to the beautiful and talented Kate Pernoud (just see her beautiful creations below), someone I am happy to call my friend. Most importantly, Kate is a mom to 2 great children, Grace (13) and Jonathan (11), …

Color Pop: This Seasons Top 10 Kitchen and House Items That Deliver Pop

When I was in France and walking the cobble streets of Montpellier with my mother-in-law I stumbled upon the cutest store named none other than Happy Design!  I swear I felt it was speaking to me … it lured me in with it’s quaint storefront, adorned in a medley of color-pop!  I am confident my mother-in-law thought I was nuts the way I became instantly giddy and crossed that busy cobble stone street just to get through their doors without a care as to whether I’d be hit by the passenger trolley going by.  But, I knew with certainty it would be euphoric and transcendent. So, why all the childish excitement?  Well, this store had what I like to call Kitchen Color Pop!  It offered many different home goods, even though the shop itself was maybe the entire size of my living room.  But, what I most appreciated about their products was the fact the products were simple in design, multi-functional in some cases, and came in assorted, bold colors.  Eye candy jack pot! You …

Did Someone Say Homework? A 4th Grade Reading Homework Template Student, Parent, and Teacher Approved!

I heard rumor 4th grade was the year they ramp up the intensity of reading homework to get the kiddos amply on their way towards good critical reading and comprehension skills.  And, given what I’ve learned in my coursework on the U.S. Education and Schools Systems whereby as a nation we are falling extremely behind in our overall global comparison in all basic areas of academic concentrations in Math, Science, and Reading, I am more able to support this extra work than what I found from 3rd Grade for Amelie. Don’t get me wrong, 3rd grade had its fair amount of reading and homework, but for some reason there seems to be a noticeable difference from the amount of homework between 3rd and 4th! I have been silently eager (okay … I just fibbed – it has been secret at least in my household!  In fact, that is probably the first question my kids get asked EVERY day), to find out what the homework assignments are for the day.  Amelie has surprisingly been coming home …

Angie Dornier Photography: An Inspiration of a Passion Turned Profession

Hello, Hello To Be Simply Happy friends – this is Bridge!  Welcome to a post I like to reference as a “Local Highlight”.  Local Highlights is somewhat new on To Be Simply Happy‘s blog. A few months ago Angela and I both discussed the fact that we feel there are many people in the community that really are inspiring … and in keeping true to why we created the To Be Simply Happy blog, we feel that we have a great platform to be able to share where inspirational dimension of happiness are coming from. Therefore I want to introduce to you Angie Dornier! Angie is a beautiful mom, wife, and friend … BUT, she is also a really great photographer who has been offering photography services for the community for years.  But there’s a lot more to Angie that lends inspiration to me, in particular, that I also feel will inspire you, and hence what has compelled me to want to share more about her. First and foremost, Angie’s photos are really beautiful … and …

Fall Family Portraits: It’s About That Time!

Here in Houston the weather isn’t giving much evidence of Fall, but that doesn’t stop the fact we mommas need to get thinking about Fall pictures in preparation for holiday cards, gifts, etc.  I am not sure if I am speaking for myself on this one, but I have been so overtaken by all of the back-to-school activities and crazy Texas sport schedules that I think I had a moment of panic when I received my email from Angie Dornier Photography reminding me to get signed up for Fall family photos before spots get filled up.  Say What Now??? (LOL!) So, okay, after a moment of yoga breathing and wave of clarity I need to get ready!  So, to help me do that I actually had the opportunity to hold hostage who other than Angie Dornier (… okay, perhaps I didn’t really kidnap her and restrain her until she answered all of my questions, but I did steal some good quality time asking her all of those thoughts in the back of my mind about …
