Top 5 Healthy Snacks For The Pre-Tweens In Your Life

To Be Simply Happy: Top 5 Healthy Snacks Kids Want
Everyone knows the harshest food critics are kids … and this even comes to snacks! Mine are no exception and I have been going through what seems years of trial-and-error in order to find the top, no-fail, snacks that don’t end in some of the most unusual facial expressions known to the human race.

A and M both know that mom prefers natural produce for snacks, and carrot sticks, edamame, granny smith apples, bananas, raspberries, strawberries, grapes, cherries, and peaches have made the cut for years now. BUT, what about the other snacks – you know, the ones you have to grab-n-run when you haven’t had the chance to get fresh fruit and veggies in the house? There is nothing like that sinking feeling you can get when you need to get your kid ready to be charged up for their soccer practice or gymnastics without giving them dinner yet. Alas, here are top snacks that have made the cut for these two pre-tweenies!

The Top 5 Healthy Snacks Your Kids Will Love.

Behold, this snack list below passes with flying colors from the 8 and 11 year old in the house. I thought it would be fun to also share in this blog their commentary on why they like each snack, and their preferred order they would eat them!  If you’re new to our blog, I thought I’d help you out by sharing “A” is my eight year-old daughter, and M is my eleven year-old son 🙂

Trail Mix.

Who doesn’t like variety? And, this snack gives that to you between the raisins, sunflower seeds, peanuts, and let us not forget about those colorful, awesome M&M’s they throw in there J Also, this snack is gluten-free and non-GMO … for all of you health conscious moms, like myself. I should probably have a confessional moment here and say I throw these in my own purse as my go-to snack when I can’t get hold of my Cheerios!

Cheerios.

Okay … this is a no-brainer as a snack option, but my entire family goes gaga for it, definitely myself included.  Both kiddos have had this snack since being babies, and I know I’ve snuck a few from their snack bags for myself.  Did I mention Cheerios now come gluten-free?  Grab ’em up ladies!

ZBar.

Don’t let size fool you on this because it comes across looking like a Twizzler, but this snack brings a serious smile to the face and sigh to my mind that it is organic and non-GMO.  Also, I like the variety of flavors they offer so I can mix it up a bit for the kiddos.

Yay!  We got a green in the snack pile!  This little square pack of goodness is a favorite substitute for chips in this family.  It is non-GMO, organic, is rich in vitamin C, and has zero grams of sugar.  What I am really loving about this snack as well is that The Simply Organic brand is starting to play with flavors, like Roasted with Sea Salt and Sweet & Salty.
