Tis The Season For Gift Wrapping: A Simple How-To on Wrapping Those Holiday Gifts

Hello TBSH!  It’s Bridgette, here, and I had a travesty hit me this week: yet another lost soul roaming the Houston landscape divulged they never learned how to gift wrap.  In fact, this individual even had the audacity to tell me they don’t like gift wrapping.  The horror … the horror of it all, I tell you! First, my immediate reaction was to not let my face show my shock and bewilderment.  Was this person robot?  Were they mental?!?!  (Just kidding on that one … OR, am I?!?!?)  Second, I gave them a hug.  Yes, I hugged a total stranger and it felt great 🙂  I had to hug them – I had pity for them and I just needed them to know everything will be better soon!  Third, I made a promise to myself, and to them, that I’d do a quick tutorial on how to wrap a simple gift … and this would change their life forever. To understand where I’m coming from with regards to my affinity towards gift wrapping, the first thing …

DIY: Pom Pom and Wine Cork Christmas Trees

Hi TBSH friends! Angela here. Have you gotten most of your Christmas shopping done? Are you ready for the kids to be out of school? I can’t believe the time is here! Why does it always seem to sneak up on me?!?! Nonetheless, the kiddos are about to be out of school for 2+ weeks, with just 1 week before Christmas. Do you think they’ll say “I’m bored” at some point? I’m pretty sure they will 🙂 Well, here’s a fun little craft that you can do with the kids to pass a little time, spruce up your holiday decor, and put those wine corks you’ve been saving to good use! Pom Pom and Wine Cork Christmas trees! Lola and I made our first ones a couple of years ago and still have them. Some we give away to Lola’s friends and some we keep to take out every year for a cute, colorful decoration. Lola loves having them in her room! It’s really easy! Here’s what you’ll need: different sizes of colored pom poms from …

The Blindfold Feedback Challenge: A Great Exercise to Teach Kids How to Receive Constructive Feedback

Hello TBSH Friends and Fans – it’s Bridgette here :). As you may know, my son Max … now twelve years old … has been playing soccer since the little fella could toddle around – like 3 years old!  I probably should have count on the exact total games he’s played thus far, but let’s do some simple math and estimate (20 games / per years … assuming seasonal games and tournament games, year round) 240+.  I don’t even want to try and estimate the amount of practices he’s been to up to this point! Max has been playing at a competitive level for a few years now and tonight was the first he received an individual assessment and feedback session with his head soccer coach.  I don’t want to make it seem he has never received feedback from other coaches, because he has … but, it has always been more impromptu and in the moment.  The feedback he received today was more formal, and structured – for lack of better words, it was thoughtful and …

DIY: The Star Package

Hello TBSH Friends 🙂  Has it really been that long since I last posted?  Why do the holidays all consume me?  Well … I need to be a bit more real with the situation because I just came back from Maui with my beloved and didn’t even get the chance to spend one day with the kiddos before I was off to Galveston to participate in my first holiday markets.  All of this being said, I’m back now and ready to share a cute idea I have for wrapping holiday gifts this year! I have ALWAYS loved wrapping gifts 🙂  There is something about seeing the face of the person receiving a gift … when they recognize you’ve put some thought to wanting to deliver something that would warm them, or perhaps excite them.  It is such a simple gesture conveying, “I care about you and wanted you to see that, in unspoken words”.  So, it is probably with no surprise I’m up to my normal shenanigans in finding a different way to offer a …

Are You Up to Your Eyeballs in Your Holiday To-Do List?

Happy Holidays TBSH friends! Just wanted to check in and say hello with a short post. I know we’ve been like crickets here at To Be Simply Happy. Tis the season of busyness! I feel like the girl in the picture holding all those gifts! Every year before Thanksgiving and Christmas I tell myself that I will be somewhat organized, relaxed, use my time wisely, and enjoy the holidays. But somehow the time just always flies by too fast and I start feeling overwhelmed!! I had to go back and read my post from early November titled “Is It The Most Wonderful Time of the Year or is The Crazy Train About to Arrive? My lovely friend Jessica Modad gives some great tips on having a relaxing and enjoyable holiday season. It’s a must read! There is still time! 🙂 Honestly, I think the powers that be need to move Thanksgiving up a week! That way we could have 1 extra week between the two holidays. Don’t you? So far I have managed to get …
